it looks awesome but I'd always think how horribly it would banana in a crash.

Had a 65 Continental. Loved that car. Suicide doors were cool but you had to tell people "do not open the rear door when moving". Jeez, you could put 6 people in that thing in comfort.
Like this except in gray.

I think as long as the doors stayed closed, it would do just fine, There is a LOT of steel on those cars.

What was it like to drive?

If it hit anything on the road today, it would probably just plow right through. Frames are no joke man.

I assume you haven't seen this
That's with a solid roof. People have a romantisized view of old cars. If this thing hit a Camry, it would fold in two, killing everyone inside. The camry's driver would still be on their cell.

Like all boats of the era. Floating, but very comfortable. Had lots of power. It could pass anything but a gas station. :)

Poignant vid.
I was thinking of a photo I'd seen of a Continental convertible that was banana'd in a crash. Can't find the photo right now to prove my point.

Was just discussing suicide doors with a 30 yr firefighter this weekend. He mentioned that without the B-pillar the car that T-bones you will end up in your lap. The doors locking to each other is not enough.

no doubt.
If ever there was a car that should be a garage queen that's only ever taken out for shows.
Absolutely gorgeous but hot damn am I never driving over 30mph and always in a motorcade but never near any grassy knolls or book depositories.
